Do you want complete freedom to read a newspaper or menu without having to wear reading glasses?
Well, the freedom you deserve has arrived, in the form of a new, extremely safe, procedure called Conductive Keratoplasty (CK),
which allows you to experience improved close vision, so there is no need for reading spectacles at all!
We use the very latest Light Touch Technology that emits radio waves which gently reshape the cornea. There is no cutting or laser used in
this procedure, so it is a totally painless experience and takes only a
few minutes in the outpatient clinic.
More than 200,000 procedures have been performed worldwide and we are seeing an amazing safety profile with no major complications.
It is the only FDA approved procedure for Presbyopia in the USA.
The FDA based its March 2004 Presbyopia approval on clinical trial data collected at the 12-month follow-up visit in which NearVision CK demonstrated effectiveness in significantly improving patients’ near vision, where:
• 98 % of patients could see N5 (magazine- and newspaper-sized print)
in the eye that was treated
• 87 % of patients could see 20/20 in the distance and also read N3 or phonebook-sized print (significantly smaller than news print) in the eye that was treated
• There were NO reported serious, sight-threatening or unanticipated safety events
You are aged over 45
Had good long distance vision throughout your life
You now require reading spectacles for close work and reading
Prescription for distance up to +2.50D
Reading Add between 1.00D and 3.00D
If you are not sure how to interpret your prescription then contact us
by phone or email.

After the 3 minute procedure, you will be able to read better, almost immediately after treatment. The treatment is laser free. There is no cutting involved, and so the whole non invasive procedure is safe, and a convenient alternative to reading specs.
Because condition of Presbyopia (needing reading specs) is progressive, the level of improvement to your vision may not last, but Additional treatments are possible and may be necessary in the future.
CK can also help patients with long-sightedness.

In over 200,000 procedures that have been performed worldwide, CK is associated with only a nominal amount of surgery-related complications.
A few people who underwent the CK procedure experienced side effects that impaired their vision for a few days, after the procedure. Although these risks are relatively rare, they should be taken into consideration by anyone considering the CK procedure.
Side effects may include:
-
Discomfort and/or foreign body sensation –
for 2/3 days after treatment
-
Glare – for up to 1 month post treatment
-
Halos – for up to 1 month post treatment
-
Overcorrection – for a few weeks
-
Dry Eyes - may occur for first few days
All patients considering vision correction will undergo a complete examination prior to the procedure. As a general rule, CK is intended for people in their mid forties and over who want to improve their near vision and reduce their dependence on reading glasses.
CK is not intended for people with myopia (short-sightedness).
Ck may not be suitable if:
- You are short sighted (Myopic)
- You have a history of eye infections including severe dryness,
or any corneal dystrophy
- You have a Cardiac Pacemaker fitted
