Our consultants all hold Fellowships FRCOphth with the Royal College of Ophthalmologists and are fully accredited on the specialist register for the UK General Medical Council. World-class is a powerful statement in our clinic, which is why we only house specialist consultants here at The London Ophthalmology Centre, you will not find any opticians, trainees or non-consultant grade doctors.

Mr Vik Sharma

Mr Sharma is a surgeon to royalty and the trusted choice of professional colleagues including doctors, GPs and eye surgeons.
Mr Vik Sharma qualified in 1996 from St. Bartholomew’s &The Royal London Hospital’s Medical College while also completed a BSc in Immunology atUCL, London. Early in his career, Mr Sharma was appointed at many of London’s teaching hospitals, and has also held the position of Glaucoma Specialist at King’s College and St. Thomas’ Hospitals.
Mr Sharma holds a substantive NHS consultant post with the Royal Free London NHS Trust Hospitals.

Mr Vik Sharma is a Fellow of the Royal College of Ophthalmologists, and a fully accredited consultant on the UK General Medical Council Specialist Register, No. 4307574. As well as completing a Glaucoma fellowship in London, he has also undergone further training in Oculo-Plastics at the Premier Facial Plastic Centre in Sarasota, Florida.
He has authored many ophthalmology chapters in medical texts and in peer-reviewed journals and is a Hon.Senior Lecturer in Ophthalmology for the University of London. Mr Vik Sharma remains an active member of the medical research field, presenting internationally and locally, discussing research findings and new techniques/treatments while also sitting on the Glaucoma Advisory Board for pharmaceuticals
Mr Vik Sharma is the clinical lead for glaucoma, and actively offers patients a new modern service in North London, developing new laser treatments and surgical implants for better eye pressure control.
Mr Vik Sharma is a specialist glaucoma and cataract consultant surgeon based in London who is vastly experienced, and is highly respected in lens, glaucoma, and eyelid surgery, as well as general ophthalmology. Mr Vik Sharma offers new non-penetrating surgical techniques and micro-tube implants, the latest micro-pulse laser treatment, micro-incision cataract surgery with multifocal lens implants and uses topical anaesthesia and on-axis phacoemulsification as part of his technique.

Here at LondonOC, Mr Vik Sharma has introduced the use of micro-incision phaco with sub-2mm incision for cataract surgery. This technique reduces trauma to the eye which leads to faster healing and decreased post treatment complications.

We only specialise in eye care – we are an exclusive ophthalmic clinic and have all the tests, treatments and procedures performed in our Centre, under our direct control. You may be pleased to know that we were the first exclusive eye clinic and surgery centre in central London. We are owned and managed by doctors in the best interests of our patients,not dictated to by profit orientated companies. The premises and clinic meets all the required regulations needed for a centre of excellence. With over 40,000 procedures done by our surgeons they have the experience you expect and deserve.
