The London Ophthalmology Centre provides consultations with specialist, experienced surgeons who have the expertise and knowledge you would expect from a centre of excellence. We only work with fully qualified consultants, who also hold substantive NHS lead positions, so you know you are in safe hands with a professional London eye doctor.
All of our surgeons hold Fellowships FRCOphth with the Royal College of Ophthalmologists (not just membership MRCOphth), and are fully accredited specialists with the UK General Medical Council, with registration on the specialist register (not just the GMC general register).
All our consultants are sub-speciality, fellowship trained, and are fully recognised by ALL good insurance companies. To cut costs AXA-PPP have recently imposed restrictions on their patients and do not recognise some surgeons, so please check with your policy first.
Mr Sharma FRCOphth, as medical director, will usually assess most new patients and then, only if need be, refer on to our trusted team of consultants (see below). In this way we can offer you the care and expertise of not one but 2 London eye doctors when needed!
Vik Sharma MBBS BSc FRCOphth
Clinical Director, London Ophthalmology Centre, London
Consultant Ophthalmologist, Cataract and Glaucoma Specialist
Mr Sharma is extensively trained, and has gained expertise, in lens surgery, glaucoma, eyelid surgery, and retinal treatments, as well as general ophthalmology:
Mr. Vik Sharma MBBS BSc FRCOphth is a Glaucoma Specialist who offers new non-penetrating surgical techniques and micro-tube implants, the latest micro-pulse laser treatment, and micro-incision cataract surgery with multifocal lens implants.
He is an experienced glaucoma and cataract surgeon, using topical anaesthesia and on-axis phacoemulsification as part of his technique. At LondonOC, Mr. Sharma has introduced the use of micro-incision phaco with sub-2mm incision for cataract surgery. This technique reduces trauma to the eye which leads to faster healing and decreased post treatment complications.

Mr. Vik Sharma is also a Fellow of the Royal College of Ophthalmologists, and a fully accredited consultant on the UK General Medical Council Specialist Register, No. 4307574.
As well as completing a Glaucoma fellowship in London, he has also undergone further training in Oculo-Plastics at the Premier Facial Plastic Centre in Sarasota, Florida.
He has authored many ophthalmology chapters in medical texts and in peer reviewed journals. Vik Sharma remains an active member of the medical research field, presenting internationally and locally, discussing research findings and new techniques/treatments.
Mr. V Sharma qualified in 1996 from St. Bartholomew’s & The Royal London Hospital’s Medical College, and also completed a BSc in Immunology at UCL, London.
